Tasha Butts Resigns as Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

May 20, 2008

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne University head women's basketball coach Suzie McConnell-Serio has accepted the resignation of assistant coach Tasha Butts. Butts, who was a standout player at Tennessee, has been named an assistant coach at UCLA. She will be reunited with newly-named Bruins head coach Nikki Caldwell, who was an assistant at UT while Butts was a player.

"As hard as it is to see Tasha go, I am happy for her opportunity and wish her the best of luck," said McConnell-Serio. "She did a great job here and was an important part of our success. There's no doubt she will be missed."

Butts, 26, played for McConnell-Serio with the WNBA's Minnesota Lynx in 2004. She was a part of the Duquesne staff for one season, during which she helped the Dukes become the Atlantic 10's most improved team.
