Ron LeVan enters his ninth season as the Dukes' assistant cross country and track & field coach. LeVan specializes in the distance events and serves as the Dukes head cross country coach. He has been a vital part of the program's steady and consistent improvement since his arrival.

LeVan, who has 13 years of coaching experience under his belt, came to the Dukes' cross country and track & field programs after serving as the head boy's track & field coach at Southern Columbia Area High School in Catawissa, PA from 1996 to 1998. He began coaching at Southern Columbia in 1994 as the boy's assistant coach and was a substitute teacher there in 1996 and 1997.

He began his coaching career in 1993 as a student-assistant cross country coach at Bloomsburg University where he also served as an undergraduate assistant in the Sports Information Office.

He earned a bachelor of science from Bloomsburg University in 1994 and later went on to earn a second degree, a bachelor of science in business education, in 1996. While at Bloomsburg, he was a three-year letterwinner with the cross country and track & field programs. A seven-time All-ECAC Division II performer, LeVan also earned All-PSAC honors as he helped lead Bloomsburg to its first national ranking in cross country (17th) his junior year. One of the school's top placers, he set three indoor marks in the 1000m, 1500m and DMR.

LeVan earned his master's degree in business administration/sport management in May 2000 from Robert Morris College. While at Robert Morris, LeVan was a graduate assistant for Compliance and Student Services.

He has also taught marketing classes at the high school level at Milford High School in Milford, Delaware in 1997 where he also was the assistant cross country coach and a cooperative education coordinator.

The 36-year old LeVan is a native of Catawissa, PA and holds a Level I USATF coaching certification. LeVan is married to the former Kristen Opdyke and resides is Cranberry Twp., PA.
